About Us

Our Story

Lisa Tchouaffe first recognized the need for afterschool care when she tried to sign her son up for his school’s afterschool care program, only to find out there were 60+ kids ahead of him on the wait list. As a single parent, she was frustrated with the lack of aftercare during weekday afternoons.

In June 2024, Lisa and Carmen White made the big step to alleviate this need in reliable aftercare and created the business Mindful Moments Aftercare, LLC. In October 2024, we officially opened our doors at the Wheat Ridge Presbyterian Church.

Both of our directors, as well as our Team Lead, are trained in medication administration and are CPR/First Aid Certified. Our program directors regularly consult with a nurse regarding children who require medication. Additionally, all staff are required to complete an additional 15 hours of training per licensing.

Our staff follow all licensing guidelines to ensure the safety of children by managing our program in the following manner.

  • Treating all students with dignity and respect.
  • Ensuring the safety of students by maintaining a staff to child ratio of 1:15 and closely monitoring students so they are never left alone.
  • Staff oversee a daily group activity from 3:15 – 4:30 to promote student cohesion and ensure that all students are well monitored.
  • Staff meet students at school dismissal time each day and take attendance as students are loaded onto the bus.
